Maybe This is a Favor

I am sure that you're all too aware of the current weather conditions in Oklahoma. It's kind of crazy but I'm not really anxious or anything. I haven't really been bored yet either. I've watched over a dozen movies from The Social Network to When Harry Met Sally. I've played board games and Spades. I finished my book. I cleaned my room like it's never been cleaned before. I am organized. I did the most I can do on my thesis (sadly not much, I am lacking in resources). I did the majority of the work on a project for the guestbook at the wedding. I called relatives I haven't talked to in years.

I started thinking about it though. It's the 5th day into this mess. Maybe the Lord is doing us all (well those of us in regions of the world ill equipped for winter weather events) a favor. Maybe He is saying slow down. Chill out. Get organized. Spend time with your family. Quit bein all that you can be and just sit. Condition your hair. Let your face feel what it's like to go 4 days with out make up. Learn something new just for the sake of learning it and because you have the time to. Time. A precious break in time.

Now I don't like snow and I wish some people would be more careful what they wish for. Perhaps I would be singin a different tune if I were having to take vacation days for this mess, but maybe this is a favor. Maybe the Lord is telling me to chill out and quit stressing over my thesis and the wedding. Shanna, just take some time to be you.

Today I got to do this with my family. It was silly but today was one of those days that I'll remember forever.

So while I dislike snow, well, I prefer it to be voluntary, I am thankful for the favor to just be calm and enjoy myself for a week. Work will pile up but the Lord will take care of me. I'll get it done.

I'll always have work and responsibilities. Days like today are few and far between.
