5,000 and Counting

Well guys, we did it. After 179 posts and 3.5 years of blogging I have had over 5,000 page views. As of this post 5085 to be exact. I got a lot of action yesterday which pushed me over the edge. I have a few theories on how this happened:

-People were really bored at work and wanted to distract themselves for a few minutes (it's no accident that I try to post during the work day)
- People really are budget conscious and wanted to get my take
- People thought I was going to actually publish our budget documents (I like to share, but good grief that would have been tacky on my part. There's just some things you don't put on the internet. However, if someone else posted their budget info I would totally read it. Totally.)

Whatever reason that people read my blog, I have to tell you that I am sincerely grateful. It feels nice that people are willing to read about the ideas I am kicking around in my head or the things we are up to. I have visions for what I want this blog to be, especially in terms of formatting. One of these days I am actually going to get some help on that. My birthday is Saturday so if you have any computing skills and want to help a girl out... I would be really stoked. I would probably even blog about it.

So how should we celebrate? The only way we know how! A Top 10 List!

My Top 10 Favorite Blog Posts (of mine):
(As always, these are in no particular order)

1. My issues with etiquette.

Okay so after looking through my old blog posts, I'm a little tickled at how I've posted frequently about etiquette issues. There's the before I was married post where I obviously didn't know any of the rules. Then during the wedding I gave a whole schpeel on RSVPing. And then when I decided  I knew all there was to know I started giving advice on Thank You Cards. After reading this one over I can't help but chuckle. I still agree with everything I said but sometimes I don't know how my readers take me. Hopefully understanding that I only have the best of intentions.

Sorry, that was 3 posts but the evolution of my etiquette take is sort of entertaining.

2. Then there's our new plates.

Matt and I found some really cute plates at a flea market and I proceeded to build my entire kitchen and living room decorating scheme around them in hopes of completing the set. After visiting I don't know a gazillion or so flea markets and antique stores we haven't even found one more of the plates. I still love them though. I still believe!

3. My Ode to Lo

I did a whole blog post about my dear friend Lo (Lauren).

It's crazy to see how far we have come since even that blog post. She called me this morning with some amazing, amazing news. I would tell you but I'm not sure if she's putting in out there yet. But it's amazing. I could cry.

4. The Reusable Bags

I'm a little entertained at how one can be so passionate about something like reusable bags. But here I sit 3 years later and would probably write a post very similar to this.

5. And then I got even more passionate about customer service.

6. Then there's politics.  That was my post where I created my own party. I'm still a card carrying member. Well, there's no card but you get the point. After two years of study and a master's degree in Political Science, I can say that my political view points have matured. Most of my fundamental beliefs are the same, but I have a larger perspective on things now. Plus I spend less time these days thinking about politics because it really just stresses me out. Especially living in Oklahoma. Anyway, moving on.

7. My Bridesmaids post.

I was thinking the other day about if I were asked who my best friends were, I would list these women. These relationships will stand the test of time. I am so blessed by the wonderful people in my life.

8. Back Where We Belong

I love this post because I can remember how excited I was that we were moving back to Oklahoma. I can't tell you how happy I am that we are back. It actually is worth the 6 hour drive each way for school to have a permanent place here. We just had our 1 year anniversary in this house. It's wonderful. (If you're reading this and from Midland, don't take it personally, we liked Midland. Home is just where the heart is =)  )

9. Coffee Shop Experiences

I just like this one. Another edition where I tell the world how to operate. In all reality people should live according to their own standards. I just throw in my two cents and hope it goes some where positive.

10. Going Green & Saving Some

I am totally digging my new series on saving money and the planet at the same time. I've made my own laundry detergent and Fabric Refresher and I've got some ideas for future posts. It has been fun trying out new things and hoping that my readers get something out of my successes and failures.

I really enjoy  blogging. It's sort of an online journal. I am much better about writing on this than I am my actual journal. Thanks so much for reading. Hopefully I get better at this over time.
