Remembering Sundays

Last Sunday I had a revelation. I don't know if I was trying to avoid training for my 5K this weekend, or procrastinate studying for my enormous test on Wednesday, but it really dawned on me that I have been abusing Sundays for my entire adult life. The Lord found a day of rest so important that he lists it in His 10 Commandments. Why have I been ignoring it? I guess because unlike killing someone or stealing, it doesn't really make me feel bad. Then I got to thinking about how different my life would be if I actually built in an entire day for leisure. That means I still have to complete everything else in the other 6 days, but I need one day for myself. This entire semester I have felt completely drained because I work full-time and then I go to school more than full-time in the evening. This is getting out of hand and really wearing on me. Not only is it wearing on my physically, but emotionally. I can safely say that I am not my nicest self when I am tired. The only person who can fix that, is me.

So here I am, making the first steps to a new way of acting. Sundays are fundays. No working out, no studying, and absolutely no clocking in. Like I said, I tried this for the first time last Sunday and as the deadline for my exam is quickly approaching, I still don't regret it. It felt good to read a magazine, lay down, and even get to visit with my best friend and her beautiful baby.
This little girl has had my heart since the minute she arrived (and I was even there!). I can't believe I love someone else's baby so much! Better pictures to come!

Maybe with my new found leisure time, I might even catch up on the things I enjoy doing, but don't make time for anymore, like scrap booking, and completing that crazy t-shirt quilt.

This should be one more step to a newer, happier, rested, me.
